A little more about the tool Frequently asked questions
Why use Ask LimenEd instead of ChatGPT, Gemini, or another general-purpose AI tool?

General-purpose AI tools can be useful. Ask LimenEd is purpose-built for educator questions. Its responses are guided by a curated evidence collection that includes peer-reviewed research, research syntheses, professional guidance, and LimenEd implementation resources. It also uses educator-specific reasoning and guardrails for areas such as behavior support, special education, school safety, mental health, communication, and intensive intervention.

Ask LimenEd is designed to translate that evidence into practical, jargon-light next steps rather than simply generate a plausible response. The system has also been tested with a large suite of realistic educator questions to evaluate usefulness, evidence calibration, safety, context use, and other quality indicators. No AI system is perfect, including Ask LimenEd, but the goal is a deliberately engineered and evidence-disciplined experience for educators.

What does “evidence-informed” mean, and why does it matter?

Ask LimenEd does not treat every source or strategy as equally well supported. Its evidence collection includes research syntheses, individual empirical studies, foundational professional literature, practice guidance, and other carefully selected sources. Evidence strength, relevance, applicability, and practical feasibility help shape the response.

Evidence matters because educators have many possible strategies to choose from, and time with students is limited. Research cannot guarantee that any particular approach will work for every student or situation, but it gives us our best bet for choosing practices with the greatest probability of helping students. That is why LimenEd values evidence as a starting point for good professional judgment rather than as a substitute for it.

Evidence should guide the answer without overwhelming it. That is why Ask LimenEd usually gives practical guidance first while making its sources and evidence available when you want to look deeper.

Does Ask LimenEd store my questions?

Ask LimenEd does not require an account. Before a question is sent for AI processing, LimenEd uses automated sanitization designed to remove common direct identifiers when they are detected.

To evaluate response quality, maintain safety guardrails, troubleshoot problems, and improve Ask LimenEd, LimenEd may temporarily retain the sanitized question and generated response. Sanitized transcript text is currently retained for up to 90 days and then removed. De-identified usage and analytic information may be retained longer.

Automated sanitization reduces privacy risk but cannot guarantee that every identifying detail will be detected. Please do not enter student names, student IDs, email addresses, education records, or other identifying or confidential student information. Ask LimenEd uses OpenAI’s API to process requests. See the Privacy Policy for more information.

What information should I avoid entering?

Do not include student names, initials used as identifiers, student ID numbers, email addresses, addresses, dates of birth, copies of IEPs or other education records containing identifying information, or other details that could reasonably identify a student.

Instead, describe what is educationally relevant—for example, an approximate age or grade range, the observable behavior, when it occurs, what has already been tried, and what you are trying to accomplish.
